I passed my driving test last year and this year I am going to buy a car (Toyota yaris 2006 (1.3)..but I get told for the frist year the insurnce is going to be expnsive.Is that true?

The first year is usually expensive because you will not have any no claims discount to apply against your car insurance premiums. This means you'll have to pay 100% of the quote that you get.

One year down the line, if you have not made any claims, you will get 1 year's worth of NCB which will allow you to get discounts on your car insurance renewal.

Try to get a reg num for a Toyota Yaris from AutoTrader's website and use that to get a quote from one of the comparison websites to see how much you're likely to pay.

Difficult to tell because there are so many other things that are taken into consideration when calculating your car insurance quote. Have you been on a car insurance comparison site yet? This is a good place to start actually and it will help you get an idea what you're likely to pay.
