Do I have to wait for my licence to come back before I can drive once my ban has ended?
Just wondering whether I can drive meanwhile or I have to wait till I get the licence through the post. I've already sent off for my licence?

You can drive before your licence is returned to you if DVLA has received your application. This means that you have either sent off the D27P form that comes from the reminder that DVLA sends when your disqualification is nearly over or the D1 form for new driving licence application. However driving before you receive your licence after disqualification is subject to the following:
- You are not disqualified from driving anymore (different rules apply for large vehicles or buses)
- You would not be refused a licence for medical reasons
- If your licence have special conditions, you need to adhere to them
- You've held a GB or Northern Ireland or any exchangeable licence issued since 1st January 1976
It's always better to call DVLA and ask whether they've received your application rather than assume they've already got it even if you sent it through registered post.
why do DVLA take so long to prosses things
Re-applied for licence when ban finished, can I drive while waiting to get licence back?
My driving ban finished two days ago. I have re-applied for my license. Can I drive while I am waiting for it?
the law allows you to drive while your application is being dealt with, provided that:

your application is valid and you have held a driving licence before
-
You are not disqualified by a court
-
You are not stopped from holding a licence for medical reasons
-
you drive under the conditions of the driving licence applied for

Driving ban finished last week but I still haven't received my licence yet
My ban had finished on thursday of last week, still haven't received my license and will be going on holiday at weekend. Can you give me any idea when I will receive it please?
If you were banned for more than 56 days, then you would need to make an application to DVLA to have your licence back. DVLA usually sends you a reminder to inform you that your disqualification is going to be over soon and tells you what you need to do next. Either way, you will need to fill out a D1 application form (application for a new driving licence) and enclose the correct fee (depending what you were banned for) and send it over to DVLA. It usually takes rougly 3 weeks for them to process your application and send your driving licence back.
