You're welcome. If you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask, that's what we are here for.

Let me know how you get on with your driving anyway.

When your ban expires, you will have to apply to the DVLA to get your driving licence back. You cannot drive before you have made the application. Theoretically you can drive once the DVLA has received your application even if you haven't got your licence back (check with DVLA first). The DVLA is supposed to send you a reminder that you ban is about to be removed couple of weeks before the actual expiry date so that you can make your application and be able to drive as soon as you're allowed to.

You should probably sort out your licence first and then shop for car insurance because your policy will be void if you don't have a valid licence. Once you've got everything in order, you can purchase a car insurance policy but to be on the safe side, you should contact the insurer to tell them about your circumstances, just so that they know.
