Can I remove anything from my car that has been repossessed by the police

My car was taken to a holding complex where the recovery truck takes cars called in by the police. I have things in the car that I want back because I don't have the money to get the car back. I was told that the car is now the property of the DVLA and I could not remove anything from the car, it will all be scraped next week. Is this true that I can't take my things out before they scrap it? Someone please advise

You should be allowed to take your personal belongings from the car. For example, if you had a mug in it, you should be able to get it back. Things that form part of the car would not be returned to you though such as the car stereo.
Under what circumstances did they seize the car? No tax?
