Can you get a provisional licence when on methadone?

I had a provisional around 10 years ago but only a 12 months one because I declared I was on methadone. When it expired I didn't renew it as I had problems with drugs since then but have now been drug free for 2 years just on a methadone reduction programme and want to start lessons as something to work towards.

Chances are that you won't be able to get a driving licence because Methadone is a Class A drug.

For people who are on a methadone treatment programme, their licences are most of the time suspended (made invalid) unless DVLA receives satisfactory medical evidence that the person is able to drive safely.

Note that it's up to the DVLA to assess your situation and for your GP to confirm your medical circumstances before issuing a driving licence, so you can send them an application and wait for their decision.

it is so annoying you are honest and it seems to come back to haunt you you got lots taking sleepers where it says do not drive if causes drowsiness and they carry on, i'm fully alert more so than cannabis users!!

You can drive when on a methadone programme as long as your stable on it not using any DRUGS and have a medical by a DVLA doctor they will also do urine test on you but hay what's the problem with that if your DRUG FREE and ASLONG as the DOSE ain't 2 high and you don't get DROWSY off it! Xxx
