Can I use my no claims bonus on two vehicles?
I am told if I have an NCB on my current vehicle and decide to buy an additional vehicle, I am not entitled to NCB on my new purchase. It would only apply to the one car. Is this true?

Also first quote we got was £2700...... second was £2200. BEWISER has insured him for £880!!!! Still expensive I know but its for a 7 Seater and as I said zero NCB. They estimate the 9 yrs on next years quote will bring it down to approx £300.
Hope this helps.
Having spent literally hours on the net and on the phone trying to resolve this one, I again contacted my existing insurance company for the third time where my car is in joint names and amazingly they agreed to mirror my 9 year no claims bonus on to a policy in my joint partners name, in this case my wife. This may resolve the issue for some. For some ridiculous reason my original policy was cheaper in joint names than just my name.
FWIW, a second, lower risk, person on your policy will often reduce your premiums (in theory, they will be driving the car sometimes, so the level of risk for the underwriter will be reduced during those times
Gordon,
That's correct - the no claims bonus (NCB) that you are entitled to is applicable to just one vehicle at a time. If you have used your no claims discount (NCD) on a car, then you wouldn't get any discount when you insure a second or any additional cars. However if you have two sets of NCB, you will then be able to use it on two cars. This situation arises when you have 2 or more cars. When you get them insured, you will build NCB for each one separately.
Since you do not have 2 sets of NCB, you can look into multicar insurance policies which is basically a discount offered by an insurer for insuring more than one car with them. On the first car, you can use your NCB and on the second car, you'll get a discount because you're purchasing 2 car insurance policies with the same company. Note that not all insurance companies provide this discount.
A no claims bonus relates to a person not a vehicle so why can I not own two vehicles and claim an NCB on both of them, I can only drive one.
