The UK doesn’t seem to see much sun but just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not causing any damage. The sun along with normal wear and tear can cause damage to car seats. The answer for this problem is simple - replace them with new car seat covers.

Cheap car seat covers can actually work out more expensive in the long run. Cheap covers are usually plastic or made from synthetic materials so long term use is not really guaranteed. Nowadays when purchasing a new car, you can alter the interior and choose the fabric giving it that personalized look to match your identity.

How to make seat covers for cars last longer?

  • Never eat or drink in the car
  • Try not to smoke in the car
  • Make sure children are in their appropriate car seats and refrain from eating
  • Make sure passengers don’t kick the back of the seats in front of them

Use scotch guard as it will act as a protective layer against the fabric for spills and food that may fall and stain the fabric. It will also protect the fabric from wear and tear making it last longer for years to come.

Temporary car seat covers

In some cases it may be cheaper to buy temporary car seat covers for a wide range of reasons. Taxi drivers who have a high volume of passengers they transport daily will benefit from temporary covers. The same goes for decorators who may not have time to change their clothes before going home. Mechanics can also benefit from seat covers when working on the interior of a client’s car. Temporary car seat covers are also sometimes used in car show rooms to protect the seats from dirt and wear and tear.

If you do choose to buy new seat covers then remember to buy fire resistant interior covers because in the unfortunate event your car catches fire, the interior wouldn’t burn as fast as some other vehicles.
