For people with EU driving licences, there shouldn't be any problem to get temporary car insurance. However because of his age (he is at the age limit that most insurers are willing to insure), you might find that you have few choices.

They accept EU licences, does not need to be UK resident and age limit is between 21-75. Let me know how it goes :)

Thanks for your answer. Tried these people along with a dozen others. The age thing was far more of a problem than the EU license. In the end we hired a car.....

I know you're no longer looking for temp cover for your father now but I'm really curious to know what possible excuse DayInsure could have to refuse insuring your dad when it clearly says on their website that the age limit is between 21-75 and your dad falls into that age group?

I have a Spanish driving licence, but returning to UK. How to renew British driving licence? I am 76 with monovision and had a UK driving licence until about 4 years ago. As I'm returning to live in the UK, I want to know how to go about renewing this. Do I have to take a test?
