You can get a concession as a returning resident and the excise duty will be 15%. However when I enquired about this in May 2010 when I visited Mauritius, customs told me that you cannot import a car which is more than 3 years old. So I doubt they will accept your toyoya since it's 7 years old. Note that the vehicle will be valued once it gets to Mauritius and 15% excise duty will be levied on it and 15% VAT will be applicable on the total as well.

I dont think it's fair.As a citizen of mauritius ,when you are going back to your homeland and to invest more money into the country, you should be exempt from any car taxes

How long have you been in the UK for? You will need to have been here for at least 5 years to be eligible for any customs discount in Mauritius. Also if you've been here less than 10 years, you will need to provide proof of residency and work.
