I'm looking to buy a car in the UK. I am Australian and have lived in the UK for 2 years and have residency. As I understand it I can exchange my Australian licence at the DVLA for a UK one. I also have letters of insurance history from my Australian car insurers (I was on maximum No Claim Bonus of 65%), and have held a full licence for 10 years. Are there any UK insurers that would be willing to consider my Australian insurance history when providing a quote? Or would I just have to pay ridiculously high insurance?

Yes, the no claims bonus you acquired in Australia will be counted when you take out insurance here in the UK. You will need to get proof of the no claims discount (NCD) from your australian insurer faxed over and emailed to you so that you can forward it on to the UK insurer you go with. Privilege insurance company will accept your foreign no claims bonus and there are loads more out there, you just need to call them up and ask.
