What training do you need to ride a 125cc scooter in Northern Ireland?
I live in Northern Ireland and am 17. What sort of training can I take here in order to ride a 125cc Scooter? I don't think you can do CBT here :(

Wrong, you can drive a 125cc without a full licence, all you need is a provisional licence, and you're on the bike. But it'll be a good tip to go for at least 1 test to see how you handle the bike. You need L plates back and front. I never needed training to go on my bike. When I first got mine I just took it round the street up and down, just to get the feeling and the handle of the bike. So entirely up to you what you do. But it's not necessary to do any training, you don't even need a theory test. You only need theory and hazard test if you're going for the full test, therefore the full licence, and your able to get above 125cc bikes. You can drive a 50cc 100cc or 125cc bikes but not over 125cc if you're a learner and not doing the test.
In northern ireland, you'll need an A licence to ride a motorcycle over 125cc. As I understand although scooter are labelled as 125cc, they are not in reality but anyway if that's what you're looking to ride, then you will have to pass a theory test and a motorcycle test on a vehicle which is 125cc.
For scooters less than 125cc, all you need is an A1 licence (you'll have to complete theory and practical test for that category). The A1 licence allows you to use motorways, carry pillion passengers and there's no need to display 'L' plates as well but you'll be restricted to under 125cc. Don't think CBT is available in Northern Ireland.
