HGV driver caught drink driving and looking to have licence back

Hi. I've been banned for drink driving for 17 months but it is now for 13 months because I'm going to do the drink driving course but I just want to know if I can get back before that? I have lost my job because I was a hgv driver for travis perkins . All I'm doing now is sitting at home waiting to get back my licence with no job to go to. I need my licence back so I can go back to work. Got no money now. I know I did wrong and I hate myself for it !! please help...

Drink driving and now looking into HGV job position

Hi, my husband was caught drink driving 3 years ago, being just 5mg over the limit (I know no excuses). He has had his licence back for nearly 2 years, and is looking into a hgv position within the company he works for. He didn't receive penalty point and was banned december 2007-2008. Been ok on road since then. The position interested is for a 17.5ton vehicle for deliveries.

What exactly is the question? Do you want to know whether his drink driving conviction will cause a problem in getting this HGV job?

I thought due to the damage you could cause being drunk in charge of several tons of moving metal, they would not let you have a HGV licence again. Try warehouse work or even forklift as long as it is not one that will be used on a road. Just don't go to work drunk an impale someone.

Darren, I know that deep down you are a nice guy, but one that keeps doing silly things. There must be something else that you can do in the meantime. You are a very practical person. you will find something and the time will pass and next time behave yourself.
